On September 19, 2024, the European Commission adopted a restriction on the use of undecafluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA), its salts and related substances for the production of textile articles, leathers, furs, footwear and accessories, paper or cardboard food packaging, various mixtures (waterproofing sprays, etc.), cosmetics and fire-fighting foams (including foams used for training and testing, for public services and civil aviation).

This restriction will apply after transitional periods ranging from 18 months to 5 years, depending on use.
